Alaska Airlines Bans Beards At Hawaiian

New appearance rules have started to take effect for pilots at Hawaiian Airlines following the carrier’s integration into Alaska Airlines.

Under the updated policy, pilots will no longer be allowed to wear beards. The rule, which had previously included exceptions for cultural reasons, has now been revised in line with FAA standards.

Under FAA regulations, beards are not permitted for cockpit crew because they may prevent emergency oxygen masks from sealing properly to the face when needed.
